A Preview on Miami’s Best in 2016

With all the places there are to visit when you’re in Miami, it has become difficult to find and choose which path is the best to follow, and where to go. This has always been the struggle every year for New Times Magazine, as they spend sleepless nights and restless days only to sort the best place offered by the best city. They have narrowed down the city’s most noteworthy places, shops, beaches, even that hidden strip mall to the explosive establishment that you must visit.

Come this Thursday, on 16th of June, to the 29th edition on the Best of Miami issue will be ready to reveal the winners. As the magazine hits the newsstands this week, you should be able to see for yourself which are the best and notable bars and clubs in the Magic City. Although the staff has chosen over 300 winners, there will also be winners from the Reader’s Poll where there are thousands of votes casted for the best and favorite spot in Miami.

Hold your horses on the full list which is yet to be released on the Best of Miami Launching Party this Thursday at Rusty Pelican. Meanwhile, here’s a preview on Miami’s best.

Chosen as the Best Museum in Miami, The Wolfsonian at FIU. This museum can be found at 1001 Washington Ave. Miami Beach. A museum on the bay that is named after a certain developer, Wolfsonian at FIU was given life even when Miami was still in its sprouting on the art institution. Founded in the 1986, it became available to those who loved and appreciated art in 1995. The museum solely focuses on design from the years between the 1850s to the 1950s. A century of collecting the Decorative and Propaganda arts, Mitchell Wolfson Jr. has it.

In a fortress-like building lies the home of how art is being expressed. Consider it the beacon or a lighthouse of culture. You can imagine how a former house of the Washington Storage Company has turned into a beacon in a city of Miami where late-night parties has become part of its culture. For 30 years, it continues to put on some of the best programs, not to mention its best last year in 2015, Philodendron: From Pan-Latin Exotic to American Modern. This program has clearly examined on the greenery of South Florida which also became an icon in the design industry.

Wolfsonian opens daily in most of the days of the week except for Wednesday. Call them at 305-531-1001 and reserve a ticket for only $10 at its admission cost, or you can get a membership ticket for you to visit the museum free. Every Friday, there will be a complimentary tour provided which will start at 6PM.
