Laughter is one of the greatest sensations in the world and stand-up comedy is a great and entertaining outlet. Comedians come from all over the world and each country has their own sense of humor. In the United States, NBC’s Emmy-nominated program, “Last Comic Standing,” is an unforgettable laugh-fest that searches for the funniest greenhorn comedians.
Starting off with a large group of 100 hopefuls, contestants will compete for the top 20 spots, and proceed to the top 10. Despite being a show that centers on laughter, the floor can get pretty quiet and awkward. Sadly, not everyone is as funny as they think they are. During the competition, the contestants will compete in sketch, improvisation, and stand-up categories to prove themselves in teams and individually. A panel of mentors and judges will guide the potential stand-up comedians.
This year, three new celebrity judges: Roseanne Barr from television series, “The Office,” Keenen Ivory Wayans from “Scary Movie” and “In Living Color” and international comic sensation, Russell Peters. Also to join the crew as a host is JB Smoove from “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “The Milers. The mentors for this season include Emmy Award Wanda Sykes, Howie Mandel from “Deal or No Deal”, Amy Schumer a previous competitor for “Last Comic Standing” and “Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back,” Jeff Ross from “Comedy Central Roasts,” and Cheryl Hines from “Curb Your Enthusiasm”.
Whoever comes up on top as the funniest will gain the title “Last Comic Standing,” win a prize package that includes a NBC talent deal as well as a half-hour scripted project to be developed by Universal Television. Watch the top comics in America joke their way to become the funniest comedians in the world, live.
