May-Tastic Things to Do In Miami

Miami never runs out of activities to do and this week is nothing short of exciting things. So whether you’re a single traveler, with family or with a group, you can never go wrong with Miami events.

Sports fans will love this bit of news as there are several events lined up at Marlins Park. First, there will be a baseball game between the Miami Marlins and the Arizona Diamondbacks from May 19 to May 21. Then on May 22 going to May 24, there will be an MLB matchup between the Baltimore Orioles and the Miami Marlins.

On May 21 at 6:30 pm, there will be a baseball benefit fundraiser named Fish ‘N Chips – Double or Nothing where guests can come and have fun with their favorite Marlins players, coaches and alumni. Also on the same day, there will be a free class workshop entitled “With Cybercrime on the Rise are You Doing What It Takes To Protect Yourself?”. It will run from 8:30 am up to 3 pm where LAN Infotech and a guest speaker from the U.S Secret Service will provide a talk on how business owners can protect themselves against a cyber attack.

Over at the Norton Museum of Art on May 21 will be the art talk A Closer Look – Louise Bourgeois’ Unconscious Landscape, 1968. It is a part of a series of monthly gallery conversations so art enthusiasts would want to check it out. Another event that art lovers could consider is Avant Gallery’s Stardust: A Galactic New Collection by Miami Artist Gold Man. Here, Miami-based painter, Gold Man will be presenting his new artworks made out of acrylic and glitter representing the artist’s self-reinvention and artistic expression. The gallery opens starting May 19.

If you’re looking for something that would positively change your life try visiting the Center for Transforming Lives class workshop, Ligia Houben’s The 11 Principles of Transformation – 12 Week Online Coaching System. Starting May 19, this class workshop will help those who feel like they’ve lost in life so if you feel like you need a bit of a push, try this class out. Foodies might want to Whole Foods Market on May 20 for the Rose Renaissance: Wine & Feast. Hosted by Certified Sommelier, Shane, this Renaissance-inspired foodfest will certainly give a whole new spin to a wine tasting.

If you’re a job hunter, you might want to head over to the Courtyard by Marriott for the United Career Fairs on May 20 from 6pm to 8pm. Job seekers can come in for free, however business professional attire is required.

Surfside will be holding their family-friendly community event called 3rd Thursdays in Surfside on May 21 from 7 pm to 9 pm. From new entertainment acts to an array of musical performances, this event will surely keep the family entertained. Over at Florida National University is the community event Missing Children’s Prevention Rally on May 21 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Here, families are invited to the free event in honor of National Missing Children’s Day. There will be talks about child safety and fingerprinting throughout the event. Parents are encouraged to bring their children along.

Over at the Museum of Discovery and Science is Sesame Street Presents The Body Exhibit Opening where kids will be exposed to topics relating to the human body in a series of educational activities. The exhibit will be open starting May 23 up to May 25.

Bob Stromberg will be having a stand-up comedy show at Covenant Village of Florida on May 21 from 2pm to 3pm. The best part about this is that it is open for all ages (though a reservation is required) and is free for all. Meanwhile, the Ricky Martin of Comedy, Pablo Fracisco will be having his stand up comedy show starting May 21 until May 24 at the Improv FTL at Paradise Live.

Meanwhile, over at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino – Hard Rock Live Hollywood on May 21 is a live performance by 80s Rockstar Pat Benatar. This multi-Grammy award winner belted out famous hits such as ‘Hit Me With Your Best Shot’ and ‘Love is a Battlefield’ and has been a pioneer of her time.
