Summer in July Ever So Fun!

4th of July may be over, but that doesn’t mean that the fun’s stopped in Miami. In fact, it’s still going strong. Here are a couple of events that could get you started or pique your interest.

For those who have a soft spot for the art scene, here are a couple of events that you might want to head over during your stay in Miami.Banco Do Brasil Americas is holding an art show entitled Color Beyond Symmetry and Horizons. This will serve as the fourth exhibit for the BB Americas Cultural Series and is aimed to continue the cultural center’s missions of promoting local artists to the public and promotion of community diversity.

Young at Art Museum is having a sculpture exhibit named Transformation of Echo: World of Dreams starting July 6, 2015 from 10 am to 5pm. This exhibit is done in partnership with Bedlam Lorenz Assembly (BLA) and revolves around the hyper-natural menageries and sculptural installations by Leah Brown. Here the exhibit captures the state of mind between something real and something imaginary with a fabric landscape and video projection.

On July 9, Norton Museum of Art will be holding DIY Art Projects – Bastille Day. Inspired by the infamous words left by Marie Antoinette, and with a twist, here artists and artists at heart are encouraged to create and paint their own mini Wayne Thiebaud cakes
General admission – $12; $5- youth; free for members and children under 13

For those who are interested in trying out something new or would want to enroll into a class of their passion this July, here are a couple events that you don’t want to miss this week.

Fashion Project will be holding a class workshop and art talk entitled FP: Sketch at Fashion Project on July 8, 2015 at 7 pm. Here attendees will be able to learn not just about fashion but also receive pep-talks and lectures from iconic designers from Fashion Project. Admission is free.

Over at Miramar Branch Library & Education Center is the community class and workshop Staycations – Escape Right Here in Your Own Backyard on July 8,2015 from 6pm to 7pm. Here, Kelly Tortoriello, teaches what staycations are and what are the many staycation ideas to reach in Broward County.

Want a whole new twist on your gadgets? Nova Southeastern University – Alvin Sherman Library will be holding a computer and technology-related classes on July 9, 2015 entitled Adult Computer Camp – Escape Your Keyboard: Tablet/Phone Fun – Vision Board.

If you’re a baseball fan, you might not want to miss the game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Miami Marlins over at the Marlins Park on July 9, 11 and 12.

If you are a current job seeker then you’re just in luck. Flippo’s Playground will be holding a job fair from July 9 to July 10 from 11 am to 1pm.

The king of the fruits will be coming into Fairchild Tropical Gardens on International Mango Festival this coming July 11 and July 12.

Music fans better be fast as there’s two big concerts coming up this week. Over at American Airlines Arena on July 10 is the concert of 70’s rock band Eagles. Known for their hits Hotel California and Take it Easy, the multi-city tour celebrates the release of the band’s documentary, ‘History of the Eagles.’

If you’re a more contemporary type of music lover, you will delighted to hear that Imagine Dragons will be performing in the BB&T Center (formerly BankAtlantic Center) on July 11, 2015. This four-piece band based in Las Vegas is famous for hits such as Radioactive and It’s Time. They received a 2012 MTV VMA nomination for ‘Best Rock Video’ for two of their hit songs.

To those who are looking for interesting events that fuse culture, food and music you can head over to Olympia Theater at Gusman Center on July 8, 2015 for In the Lobby Lounge…Jazz at the Olympia Theater. The event presented by Olympia Theater and Miami Jazz & Film Society, and sponsored by the Miami Downtown Development Authority.

If you’re looking for activities that would positively affect your child and, at the same time, make their summer worthwhile, here are a couple of suggestions just for you.

AutoNation Academy of Art + Design will be holding a class workshop entitled NSU Art Museum & AutoNation Academy Present Creative Summer Art Academy for Grades 1-12 starting June 6, 2015 from 9 am to 4pm. Here allow your kids and teens to immerse into their artistic spirit and develop new skills with professional artists and educators. In addition to that, students will be given the opportunity to study in a studio school affiliated with Fort Lauderdale’s leading art museum.
