Take New Heights in Miami

When one says, “Take the plunge”, many often associate it to adrenaline inducing activities, but here we mean more than that. Miami may be a hotbed for events and activities, but it is also a hot spot for other things that might be your niche and it will make you surprise yourself. Most of these events are free and may pique your interest if you are looking for something to do, but don’t have enough resources to shell out.

Here are a few recommendations that we would like to suggest.

Nova Southeastern University – Alvin Sherman Library will be holding an art show and talk entitled The Extraordinary Art of Gold Coast Watercolor Society courtesy of the Gold Coast Watercolor Society. It is free for all events and runs starting July 27, 2015.

In light of the senate approval that gay marriage is a constitutional right, the Pride Center at Dixie Highway will be holding a free LGBT seminar, I Do: The Fundamental Right of Marriage is Recognized For Same-Sex Couples on July 29, 2015. This seminar is presented by SunServe, The Law Office of Stephanie Schneider, P.A., Elizabeth F. Schwartz, Esq., and the Treece Financial Group will tackle the effects and benefits same-sex couples will have on the Supreme Court’s decision. Also to be discussed on how divorce works, parental rights, surrogacy, adoption and etc. RSVP is needed to attend.

Fashion Project at Collins Avenue will be holding another part of their free folk art and crafts workshop. This time they will be tackling how to knit with fiber artists and knitting instructor Dawn Rattinger on July 29. Beginners and those who already know how to knit will be able to learn how to make handmade projects appropriate for their level.

Do you have a loved one that is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease? Do you want to learn how to be able to cope? Are you a caregiver who cares for patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease? Mount Sinai Medical Center will be hosting a support group for patients and caregivers on July 29, 2015 from 12:30 pm to 2pm. Light lunch will be provided to the attendee at no extra cost.

If you are a fan of the Miami Marlins you are just in luck because the team will be having games this week. You can cheer on your team on the following dates: from July 29 to 30 they will be taking on their MLB division matchup game with rivals, Washington Nationals. They will also be taking on the San Diego Padres on July 31.

The Miami Dade College (Wolfson Campus) plays host to this year’s 2nd Annual Youth Economic Development Conference & Expo: Career Destinations from July 30 to July 31. This conference will see over 200 student/youth leaders all over the country. Here they will be able to be exposed to influential leaders from different sectors such as education, business and industry. This year’s keynote address will be given by actor/director Tommy Ford.
