The Art Life in Miami

This week in Miami, art takes a center stage in events and special happenings. From art shows to concerts by your favorite musicians, you can say that this is a good week for creative souls everywhere. Below are just some of the recommended events that you should consider for your weekly calendar. Some of these are simply too good to pass so get moving!
First in the list is the mixed media art gallery by Marina Gonella entitled Going Home. Housed at O Cinema Wynwood, her art show showcases her various works which makes use of a variety of medium from acrylic paint to photography. The gallery opens starting July 13, 2015. Meanwhile, the Freedom Tower and the Miami Dade College – Museum of Art + Design will be showcasing Florencio Gelabert’s A Dialogue With Time. Here he will be presenting innovative ways of presenting his art works, from sculpture to installation, that goes beyond the traditional school of art. The topics that are focused by the art works revolved on beauty and destruction, violence and serenity and features the recreations of imaginary spaces. The show is free for all.

For fashionistas, the Fashion Project’s Talks: Quickies & Other Projects may pique your interest. Serving as the main resource speaker is Karelle Levy, the designer behind Miami-based KRELwear’s hand-made “living garments”. This class is free and great for all ages. Class will be on July 16.

Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library will be holding Crafternoon at the Library – Escape to Your Imagination. An activity built for aspiring writers! This is also free and will be on July 17.

On Juy 17, the Young at Art Museum will be hosting the Annual Young At Art Teen Comic Convention. Teens and tweens can expect Camp YAA’s Digital Cartooning Camp in this event while letting out their inner geek. There will also be a variety of other activities such as video game stations, cosplay and so much more. It may not be San Diego Comic Con but it could be the next best thing!

Big artists will be visiting Miami this week!

Are you a country music fan? Well, you’ll be delighted to know that renowned country singer Shania Twain who will be performing on July 16. Shaina Twain was known for music that bridge country to mainstream-dom.

The second in the list is Nickelodeon actress turned pop sensation, Ariana Grande. She will be accompanied by Prince Royce where they will be performing on July 18 at the BB&T Center (formerly BankAtlantic Center). Problem, anyone?

With all of those exciting events, you might think that that’s it. Well, think again.

Love ice cream? Why don’t you head over to Concrete Beach Brewery on July 19 for National Ice Cream Day? They found the best way of beating the summer heat and that is pairing up two favorite treats – ice cream and beer! The offer is only available from 2-6pm.
