What could be better than seeing your favorite Disney characters skate together on ice with your family and friends? Get ready for non-stop fun at the BB&T Center, Miami, Florida from September 18-21 and at the American Airlines Arena from September 24-28. The all-time favorite Disney On Ice will be presenting Worlds of Fantasy is showcasing favorite characters from Disney-Pixar’s Cars, The Little Mermaid, Pixie Hollow, Toy Story, and more!
Feld Entertainment, the production company that presents Disney On Ice will be whisking the audiences from auto-racing terrains, Andy’s bedroom, under the sea, and mystical fairy land. According to the producer, Nicole Feld, “To be the first to introduce the Tinker Bell story live on ice and to be entrusted with the beloved Toy Story characters is incredible, and we are thrilled to bring these heartwarming tales to families across the United States. The arena instantly transforms into Pixie Hollow as we show our audience how the fairies prepare for spring with an explosion of color. To convey the world of the toys and create the proper toy-to-human scale, we manipulated the size of the props and costumes to make live skaters – and even the audience – seem toy size.”
The show begins with Mickey Mouse and the gang embarking on a journey to explore each fantasy world but is put on hold once their cherry red roadster unexpectedly breaks down. They try their best to fix the car, but it takes the help of the folks from Radiator Springs to get them moving. Be mesmerized as Lightning McQueen, Mater, and Sally speed into action, dashing around the frozen rink to re-energize the roadster.
Continuing the road trip, the arena transforms into fluorescent coral and clamshell drums and welcome Ariel’s world and then warps to the colorful fantasy land of Pixie Hollow, where the audience will be overwhelmed with a giant tree, flowers, and butterflies and get to meet Tinker Bell and all of her fairy friends. Moving on to the second act, we welcome back the beloved world of Toy Story, together with Woody, Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of Andy’s gang.
Combining dance, theatrics, athletics, the choreographers worked together to portray each unique personality of the characters. Disney has always been very detailed about the types of personalities and voices, each character as well as the worlds they live in. Not only was the challenge on the choreographers, but on the whole team, including props, costumes, hair, makeup, sounds, and lights. A theatrical production on ice is already a magical experience and is made even more spectacular with Disney.
