Art enthusiasts and activists are invited and encouraged to come to ArtServe’s Art = Antidote to Hate art show where the gallery of paintings, installations, and sculptures is dedicated to social issues and aims to promote positive change. In celebration of Women’s Month, there will be a Women’s Impact Conference and Luncheon over at Miramar Cultural Center on March 20 where women from various walks of life and ethnicities are invited to come for a day of spiritual inspiration and motivation.
Sports fans will be happy to know that this week is loaded with sports events. On March 19, at 7:30 pm is the NHL matchup between Detroit Red Wings and Florida Panthers. The Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers will be having their Southeast Division matchup on March 21, at 7pm. All of these will be held in BB&T Center. Over at American Airlines Arena on March 20 is the inter-conference matchup between Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets.
Over at Aventura Arts and Cultural Center will be the live concert of Tony award winner Lea Salonga. She is best known for her roles in musicals such as Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, and the recent adaptation of the Flower Drum Song. Salonga also served as the voice of two Disney princesses, Princess Jasmine from Aladdin and Mulan from the animated film of the same name.
Those who are interested in tropical ferns and exotic plants will certainly love the Annual Show and Sale of the Tropical Fern & Exotic Plant Society held at Banyan Bowl at Pinecrest Gardens. There will be examples of tropical plants for sale or for display and will be running from March 21 to March 22.
Over at the Spanish River Park is the benefit/fundraiser community event named Boating and Beach Bash for People with Disabilities on March 21. It is free for all event specifically aimed for the welfare and benefit of citizens with mental and/or physical disabilities and their caregivers.
